You just can’t flip through television stations without coming across a reality show and getting the deets on just about every aspect of ones personal life. Reality television has become a mainstay and is a guilty pleasure in the homes of many. There is just something about taking a voyeuristic look into the lives of others, that keeps us coming back for more week after week.
Under the Microscope
Since the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise on Bravo television first hit the airwaves, it has piqued my interest. Maybe it’s the sheer debauchery of it all, perhaps it’s the cattiness. Or it could be the fact that the proverbial boxing gloves go on. Whatever the reason, this show makes for one very interesting hour of television.
The ‘Real Housewives’ is a show that has such a simple concept, yet is so complicated in nature; follow some of the most sought-after names and their families around with a camera crew and anything is bound to happen or resurface.
We learn about relationships between estranged loved ones, who individuals like, dislike and for what reasons. The square footage of one’s humble abode also is fair game.
As each show draws to a close, I marvel in the fact that next week’s episode will be even more explosive than the last. Though I can’t pinpoint which housewives I like the best, I can venture to say it’s a toss-up between The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Real Housewives of New York City. Make that three favorites, I can’t forget about the originators of the housewives series, Orange County.
One in a Million
Will reality television ever cease? Who knows, but for now we can just enjoy our pick of shows that offer temporary relief from our real life situations. What’s your take on reality television? Comment in the section below.

That’s right, Shelly. Dwight Eubanks was part of the Atlanta Housewives. I miss him, too.
